A visit to the Iranian capital Tehran

A visit to the Iranian capital at the end of the year. Lots of excitement since Tehran is a country you don't easily get in. So preparations were necessary in terms obtaining a visum. I also speak very little Farsi except for the words salom and bale. So I needed to rely on my friend who accompanied me for translation services wherever I went. At the hotel they spoke basic English but anywhere else better with a translator. There are beautiful spots in Tehran and the sourroundings, in the capital though it always seems to be very misty.

The picture is from the entry to the ski resort Darbandsar. A very posh area.

The bazar, an Iranian shopping mall

We also went to visit an Iranian shopping mall. Later on we had lunch at a local restaurant. The food was exquisite!

Borj e Milād - Milad Tower

Milad tower on wikipedia

It's one of the highest towers in the world. The view from the top is really breathtaking. I was very careful not to step close to the edge even though it's deemed to be safe. They also have a museum inside with lots of information on the history of famous people of Iran.

They have people made from wax at the museum!

Obviously there is also a cafe like at any tourist attraction. I'm trying to get a better view of Tehran but it's all very misty on that day.

At the end of the tour of the tower, when you go down to the groundfloor, you'll find a shop with lots of handmade art pieces for sell.
